Eric J. Scott Eric was raised in the Tri-Cities (Richland, Pasco, and Kennewick, Washington) and appreciates the culture and climate here. After several years of practicing law outside of Washington, he decided it was time to return in order to contribute to his hometown community. Eric has a passion for criminal defense and family law, and works aggressively to ensure that his clients' rights are protected. As a result of this commitment to protecting our rights, the Idaho Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers presented Eric with the Gargoyle Award for "triumphing over relentless, and at times unfair, pressure from government actors." Prior to his law practice, Eric was an attorney (called a "law clerk") at the Idaho Supreme Court. While at the Idaho Supreme Court, Eric worked closely with the justices and developed invaluable insights into how to succeed on appeal. Since he left the Idaho Supreme Court, he has submitted multiple written briefs to appeals courts and argued before the Idaho Supreme Court. For the last several years, he also has assisted convicted individuals with their post-conviction relief actions against the state. Every case is different, and therefore no results can be guaranteed, but Eric has succeeded in obtaining post-conviction relief such as reductions in sentences and allegations of ineffective assistance of trial counsel. Eric is married, has two daughters and three dogs, and enjoys college football games, wine tasting, and hiking. |
